In Sydney, in 2017...

Humble & Hungry

Suffering, Serving and Leading the church of God Peter Ko and Rory Shiner will be unpacking the servant songs from the book of Isaiah. Our evening sessions will involve experienced church planting leaders working through the 'how to' for reproducing leaders, developing a mission culture, becoming a church planting church and the responses to and challenges of secularism in Australia.

Only rarely do those who dream of leadership think through the responsibilities, pressures, and temptations leaders face. Almost never do they focus on accountability, service, suffering.”

Don Carson - The Cross and Christian Leadership

Rory Shiner

Rory is senior pastor of Providence Church in Perth, Western Australia. He studied English and Anthropology at UWA and, as a consequence, has mainly worked in cafes and kebab shops.

His ministry has included pastoring, church planting, local and international student ministry and more recently ministry amongst those who live and/or work in the inner city of Perth. He has written books on union with Christ and the resurrection of Jesus, and is currently researching the life and thought of Australian Christian leader Donald Robinson.

Peter Ko

Peter is a church planter and pastor amongst the growing migrant communities in Sydney’s multiethnic south-west (South-West CCC). He is also the Chairman of RICE (Renewal and Inter-Church Evangelism), a high school and young adults ministry to reach, equip and refresh the thousands of second and third generation Asians in Sydney.

Peter is a graduate of Moore Theological College and a member of the Australian Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). Peter is married to Karen and they have four primary school aged children.

Why come to Multiply?

Feedback from previous years
  • Heidi and Mikey Tai

"Multiply is a great opportunity to get refreshed, encouraged, and experience gospel partnership in a tangible way. Hanging out with men and women, church planters who share the vision of seeing churches planted around Australia."

    Providence Church, Queensland

  • Ben Pfahlert

"Multiply is a fantastic thing to come to. You get to network with other people thinking about church planting. You get equipped - through getting assessed, great advice from people, real live help from people involved in working out how to plant a church."

    MTS National Director

  • Kathy Stewart

"It's such an encouragement, not only great to hear good Bible talks but to meet with everyone. Meeting up with the wives, talking about what's happened over the last little while, sharing stories, some sad, some good. But always great getting together and encouraging each other to keep going on."

City East Bible Fellowship, New South Wales

  • Josh Allen

"At Multiply I meet people who are planting, preparing to plant or have planted. There is so much wisdom in this place."

    Laneway Church, Victoria

"What is necessary is leadership character - leaders who have the suffering servant values so deeply embedded in mind and heart that they are alert to any small step and where it might take us."

Andrew Heard - Lead Pastor of EV Church

"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Mark 10:43-45

We're excited to have a great line-up to complement Rory and Pete, including real church planters and experienced ministers sharing practical guides for facet of leadership and church planting in Australia.

How do I get to the venue?
Church In The Marketplace is easy to get to by public transport! If travelling direct from the airport simply follow the signs to the Domestic Airport train station and catch a train to Museum Station. Where should I stay?

Another great thing about being in the centre of the CBD - heaps of accommodation options. Click here to go to Tripadvisor where you can compare hotel deals in the Sydney CBD and Bondi. If travelling with a group, we also suggest looking into apartment hotels where you might be financially better off booking 2-bedroom apartments and sharing with others.

Is there childcare available?
Yes! We want to support church-planting families. Free childcare is available throughout all day sessions of Multiply.
